Dr. Friday-Otun is a Reader in the Department of Linguistics and Nigerian Languages at the University of Ilorin. His areas of research interest include semantics, pragmatics, sociolinguistics, applied linguistics, translation, psycholinguistics, discourse analysis, and stylistics. He is the current Acting Head of the Department of Linguistics and Nigerian Languages. He has supervised more than thirty master’s students and three PhD students. He is a member of the Linguistic Association of Nigeria, West African Linguistics Congress Society, Modern Language Association of Nigeria, Nigeria English Studies Association, and American Studies Association of Nigeria.
